Hidden gem in Kenilworth- jakes cafe bar and restaurant

Friday night the girls were in need of drinks food and a good talk. The pressures of life were starting to affect our friendship. So we decided to get rid of that tension at Jakes.

The ambience is very chilled, we were probably the loudest bunch of ladies in there. The decor is very pretty, modern and serene.

The food. I'll start of with desserts because this is what drawn me to Jakes in the first place. We shared the dessert platter which surprisingly was enough for the 6 of us. It was decadent and delish and consisted of deep fried ice cream with butterscotch sauce, triple chocolate brownie, bar one spring roll and lemon fridge tart.

For mains we had the prawn pasta was a tad dry but I love that they were not stingy on the prawns and nicely sized ones might I add.

Thai prawn and chicken curry was really tasty, full of flavour and delicious.

Mushroom and masala steak with either chips or veg was made to perfection.

The cocktails were sickeningly sweet but their caramel vodkas made with real caramel are definitely worth having.

The service was exceptional, and overall experience was good. I think everyone left on good terms and Shanz had a good farewell.
